COURSE INFORMATION:

This course contains a CourseBookTM, which is an innovative fusion of the traditional textbook and online course, combining quality educational content with an interactive, social learning experience to promote success. The course has been broken into three Study Phases (please see below). At the end of each study phase, there is a quiz that you are required to complete.

  2. Study Phase 2 Quiz:
    • Laws that regulate commercial activity
    • Business enterprise structures
    • The Law of Employment
  3. Study Phase 3 Quiz:

    • Regulation of food hygiene
    • Gambling legislation
ASSESSMENT:

Work through the workbook. At the end of each Study Phase, there is a quiz to complete. You need to complete and pass each of the quizzes with a minimum of 70% to get a certificate. No restrictions on your attempts.

  • Describe the essentialia of insurance contracts, types of insurance, and their relevance to the hospitality industry.
  • Explain liquor and tobacco legislation, including licensing, advertising restrictions, and compliance requirements.
  • Discuss food safety and hygiene regulations, including the legislative framework and duties of hospitality establishments.
  • Outline the regulatory framework governing gambling activities, including responsible gambling measures and the role of the National Gambling Board.
  • Apply legal principles to case studies in the hospitality industry, including the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act (PAJA).
